Cupcake pin cushions tutorial

Hi as many of you may know i have a huge obsession with cupcakes!
So once i worked out how to make these pin cushions i was in heaven.
So today my plan is to make my first vidoe tutorial on how to make a basic cupcake pincushion.
So you too can make your own!
For those of you would like one but not game enough to make one they are avaiable in my esty store.
Now these dont need to be used as pincushions.
But i promise these are fairly simple to make.
If your like me and love to have pretty things in the kitchen then these look devine sitting on a cute saucer or even make a few and display them on a cupcake stand or cake stand.

The beauty of these is your only limited by your imagination as they look great in all colours and with all kinds of different toppings.

these are some that i have made and have for sale in my online esty store

This last one i even did up a cute little gift box for!

So tomorrow ill share the video tutorial with you all

Mothers Day

Mothers Day!
How many mums truly get to relax on this day?
I don't know about you but my mothers day morning normally goes something like this:

Way to early in the morning ( sometimes still dark outside) my kiddies come bounding in jumping all over me like it was Xmas morning.
I am made to sit up and wake up!
Followed by toast with butter and so Vegemite so thick that some years i haven't even been sure if there was toast on the plate at all.
All eyes are on me, they sit and watch to make sure i eat the whole lot and I'm not allowed to share as its all mine!
Tummy ache that normal follows is all mine to!
I'm not a breakie person, and normally pass on butter.

Then theres the unwrapping of gifts that the kiddies buy at the mothers day stall at school.
The hand made gifts made in art class or at home.
\This is when i  normally find my craft items that went missing pasted to cardboard and egg cartons.

And the best part of all is all the kisses and cuddles i get as my kids fight over who loves me more.

By 10am Mothers day is forgotten I'm in the laundry or at the sink with  the lovely screams of the kids fighting in my ears.

I wouldn't change anything as my mothers day would not be the same, without the tummy ache, headache from lake of sleep, the screams of the kiddies  and the thousand's of kisses that remind me once again how lucky i am to have four beautiful kids that love me as much as i love them!

Its such a special day! I love showing my mum how much she means to me.
This year i made my mums present.
I worked around that her new babies now me and my brother are all grown up ( kinda) are her chooks, ducks and a lovable turkey called Trevor!

Am happy to share the pattern i threw together for the chooks and eggs if anyone would like to make something similar xx

To all the beautiful and adorable mums out there
Happy Mothers Day for this Sunday
i hope you all treated extra special

vamping up old shoes!

Last week me and the other half were watching the voice and a young girl auditioned and straight away her shoes caught my eye!

If you watch the show I'm sure you know the shoes I'm talking about?
She made them herself, i think she made her whole outfit but the shoes is what caught my eye.

So yesterday before picking up the kids i went op shopping for some heels that i could upcycle into something funky and fun like the shoes i had seen.

I found two great pairs of shoes and picked them up at a steal for $5.00 each, now neither are my size but the style was what i wanted.

I brought them home and gave them a good clean and removed some small red glass beads that were on the straps of the red shoes.
Then this morning i set to work getting out everything i thought i might need to turn these pain Jane's into something a little more funky.

and then i set to work!

I love the way these came up! I used my hot glue gun and in no certain order glued on a variety of different sized and coloured buttons i stuck mostly to the pinks and whites  as I'm a pink kinda girl :)

Now they looked great just with the buttons cork heels but i wanted a little more so i added Ric Rac all the way around the top of the heels and added a lace flower bunched up in the front and to me  they then  finished up perfect!

The only thing that has me disappointed now is that there a size 10 and I'm only a size 8 lol.
Back to the op shops and clearance racks very soon to try and find a pair in my size.
I would love to wear these out with a nice pair of cut jeans and plain top. Let the shoes be the statement!

Comparing the before and after, i much rather like my new vamped up version of these simple heels.
Let me know what you think x
And as soon as i hit the shops to buy some  more glue sticks i will starting on the red heels.
Share that one with you all soon xox

Frustrated with myself!!!

I cant believe it............
I seem to have lost my blog ( and sanity atm)  out there in the world of web lol
I cant recover my password and it does not detect my email arhhhhh.

So here i am, starting over again!

I'm jana and I'm a craftaholic.
I hate to be doing nothing, i have a need to be constantly busy making something or working on a current project and conjuring up new ideas.
I have always been this way and as far as i know there is no cure ;)
And that's the way i like it.

I'm a stay at home mum to 4 kiddies, ages 1,5,7 and 10. These guys inspire me everyday and i have them to thank for some of the  designs i  have made or creations i have come up with.

My latest fix has been my cupcake pin cushions i made for my local market that  i have a stall at once a month.
I thought with mothers day coming up these guys would be well loved!
I personally think they are just to cute to be pin cushions, and have mine sitting on a pretty saucer in my kitchen :)

These are soooooo much fun to make and very little sewing experience is needed.
I will be making a small tutorial soon for anyone wanting to try there hand at making  these, there easy i promise!
You could come up with endless ways to decorate them. I even made one with a little gift box as well!

For those who would like to see more close up pics here's the link to my etsy store http://www.etsy.com/shop/princessesandmonkeys .
Or stay tuned for the tutorial, please comment below if this is something you would like to see :)

I'm also currently working on my mothers day pressie for my mum.
At this stage the idea is still mostly in my mind.
Expect i have painted a plain old egg carton white all ready.
But ill give you more info on that in my next post. Hopefully it turns out the way i hope than it will be another idea i would be more than happy to share with you all :)

Well tonight my two little princesses seem to have grown horns and decided to give me a hard time so as much as i would love to keep typing away i am having trouble concentrating over the dobbing that comes so easy to little girls lol ( atm its who has pinched who more times).

so on that note i hope your enjoyed the short read and ill be back soon xox
